SELLING TIPS -
Attracting customers to your store will be even easier when you keep these simple selling tips in mind.
SHOWCASING YOUR PRODUCTS
High quality photography is one of the most important ways to attract customers to your store.
Knowing this, yourlocalstores.com has created an image library containing stacks of images of popular generic items, from avocados to , as well as popular brand items. At yourlocalstores.com you are free to upload as many products as you like.
If you can’t locate a particular generic product photo in our library, send us an email at email@example.com and we will try to source it for you.
You may also want to take your own product photos! If so, please read our photo and picture requirements
DESCRIBING YOUR PRODUCTS
WHAT SHOULD YOU SAY
When entering descriptions for your products, remember to keep the product title clear and simple. You will have max 300 number of characters to describe your product.
Include words in the title you think buyers will search for, for example, ‘tomatoes’ or ‘vitamins’, rather than descriptive terms such as ‘beautiful’ or ‘delicious’.
You can offer a more detailed description in the body of the listing. Here, the more detail you can provide, the better.
Depending on the type of product, include information such as:
Size and measurements
Brand / Designer
Product condition, for example new or used, gourmet, organic or discounted
Other item specifics, such as the source of the item, or place of manufacture
In both the title and body of the listing, avoid using abbreviations, acronyms, or overusing punctuation such as exclamation marks or asterisks, and avoid using all capital letters. This will keep your text looking clean and make it easier for customers to read. Don’t forget to run your text through your computer spell-check before uploading.
Keywords are important to use in your listing - that’s how customers will find your product when they use the ‘search’ function at yourlocalstores.com.au

FROM YOUR STORE TO THEIR DOOR: PICK UP AND DELIVERY OPTIONS
In your listings clearly specify where and when your clients can collect their products. Include the street address of your store, your opening and closing hours and a contact phone number.
For home or office delivery, clearly specify all your delivery options, for example: free postal delivery, paid postal delivery, registered post, standard courier or express courier.
Where appropriate, give customers the opportunity to specify what they would like to do if the product is delivered when they’re not home – for example, have it left at the door or returned to the post office or your store.
Include the prices for each of your delivery options, including the difference in price for deliveries to local customers and those who are further afield.
Keep your customers in the loop – we will automatically send out and email when their product has left the store, and when they can expect to receive it. Just make sure you hit shipped in YLS store dashboard.
And remember – the more options and information you can provide, the more likely you are to sell your product!
HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY
Building strong relationships with customers is a priority for yourlocalstores.com.au.
Delivering on your promises translates to happy customers- ones that will return to your store time and time again.
One important way to build trust with your customers is by ensuring the products you send out are true to their description.
For example, if your product photo and description promises an unblemished apple, don’t send one that is bruised or damaged. If you do wish to sell products with slight defects or that aren’t in perfect condition – such as cooking tomatoes or very ripe fruit - ensure the customers know exactly what they are buying.
